As a working musician i always was searching for a good solution to organise equipment and gear the most efficient and easiest way. I alsway was searching for a good solution that makes it easy to play a live gig with a mixed setup of electric and upright bass.
The idea was to design and build a amplifier that is capable of handling different requirements of pickups and their respective pre-amplification and equalizing combined with a powerful output stage, all put together in a small, easy to carry enclosure.

This setup makes it possible to amplify a double bass (piezo&mic) as well as an electric bass without the need of carrying additional pre amps and plugging and unplugging gear during the gig. Simply switch instrument, mute/unmute the respective Input and keep playing. I did not built the power stage by myself, since there are plenty of good components on the market. Used within the amp is a Powersoft Digimod 1500 which has often been used in PA-systems. It has enough headroom to play club gigs and bigger stages with ease. I came up with the name Koenigdruckwell during the building process – it’s an anagramm of my full name and perfect name for powerful little Amp.
